Turning the thermostat down 1°C
A 1°C change does not have one published gas figure for every home. How long the boiler runs depends on the building, the weather and the starting temperature.
This site will not invent a pound saving for that single click. An hour of gas while the boiler is firing can be priced on the heating hour page. That is an illustration of the unit rate, not the effect of 1°C.
Nesta includes “reduce the thermostat from 20°C to 19°C” inside a package of six free changes. Nesta’s figure for the whole package is about £220 a year, and about £57 of that package is the flow-temperature change for homes it suits. Those are Nesta’s estimates, not a 1°C line we have split out. Nesta’s release.
